Storing Mattresses

Mattresses can be particularly susceptible to mould growth and damage if not stored properly. Here are some tips to help you store your mattress:

  1. Clean and dry the mattress: Before storing your mattress, make sure it's clean and dry. Use a vacuum cleaner to remove any dust and debris, and let it air dry completely to avoid any moisture being trapped inside.

  2. Cover the mattress: Use a special mattress storage bag to cover the entire mattress. These bags are made of plastic or polyethylene and protect the mattress from moisture, dust, and pests. Make sure to seal the bag tightly to prevent any moisture from getting inside.

  3. Store the mattress flat: To avoid any damage to the mattress structure, store it flat in the storage container. If it's not possible to store it flat, make sure to store it standing up on its side and not on the end.

  4. Avoid placing heavy items on top: Don't stack heavy items on top of the mattress, as it can cause it to deform and lose its shape.

  5. Keep the mattress off the ground: To avoid any moisture from seeping in, store the mattress on a raised platform or pallet. Avoid storing the mattress directly on the floor.

By following these tips, you can help ensure that your mattress stays in good condition while it's in storage. Remember to check the mattress regularly for signs of mould or damage, and take action quickly if any issues arise.
